Heartbreaking Tearjerker of the Day: In 1988, Nicholas Winton’s wife revealed to the BBC his long-kept secret: He’d saved 669 children from the Nazis at the dawn of World War II through his organization of the Czech Kindertransport. (This clip is from a BBC program that honored the “British Schindler” by inviting some 80 of the children he saved to surprise him in the audience.) In all, more than 5,000 people owe their lives to Winton.
In the more than two decades since the media got wind of his humanitarian exploits, Winton has been knighted, had a minor planet named after him, been commemorated by two statues — one each in Prague and London — and been the subject of three films and a play.
Winton still wears a ring given to him by some of the children he saved. It is inscribed with a line from the Talmud, the book of Jewish law: “Save one life, save the world.” He celebrates his 103rd birthday this week.

Sad ‘Cause It’s True of the Day: It’s Teacher Appreciation Week, and Jimmy Kimmel’s gift to educators across the country was an opportunity to give their students’ parents a piece of their minds.
Too funny but so true.
Feeling like a million bucks
Have you left a salon feeling like you are on top of the world? Did a haircut and highlights ever make you feel like a different person? Well, yesterday by chance or was it my intuition that led me a salon that was truly a “diamond in the rough”.
It has been about three and a half months since my last haircut and coloring. Back in December, I purchased a Lifebooker deal for $89 to get balayage highlights and cut at Le Salon East. It wasn’t bad but they suckered me into paying another $99 for an all over color. But it turns out that that wasn’t an all color but just a toner to tone down the color. What a rip-off! I will never go back there. Plus the colorist was not very attentive and they charge an arm and a leg for their services. But I guess that’s what you pay for an UES salon.
Let’s go back to my cloud nine. First off, the receptionist was very courteous over the phone. They had availability the afternoon I called and fit me right in. They honored the Lifebooker prices without making me making the appointment on Lifebooker. Secondly, my colorist and stylist Linsey was attentive, detailed and listened to what I wanted. She wasn’t like the usual pushy stylists that did what she wanted. She offered suggestions that centered on what I was looking for which was ombre highlights from dark on the top to light on the bottom. And finally, Misin the owner gave me an impromptu cut. I’ve never had a stylist give me a unique haircut like this before. He tailored his cutting style according to how my hair grew out. Words simply cannot describe how his talent and intuition. I gave them a 5 star review on Yelp.
I am definitely going back to Misin Shin Salon for some fun peach highlights to celebrate summer.
Another two bites the dust
So within the last month two more people told me that they are expecting. Both girls have been trying for quite some time so I am extremely happy for them. Nevertheless when those three words are spoken and it finally hits my brain. My heart twinges and surprisingly a sense of calmness comes over me.
I remind myself that this blessing has yet to occur on my timeline. I remember my mantra that I am different and must live in the moment. I no longer yearn for what I don’t have. But find the courage to accept my ‘present’ as a gift that is all my own and can never be taken away.
Here is PART TWO of the PCOS series.
I would like to share this video with you as a follow-up from yesterday’s post regarding yoga and PCOS. This is PART ONE of the PCOS series.
Aunt flow just came into town yesterday. I was having some back pains so I googled on how to alleviate it. And I came across yoga for PCOS. I am a big fan of yoga due to its nature to heal our bodies in an organic and holistic way.
If are you in the New York Metro area (or Los Angeles) and would like a good place to practice yoga, I recommend Golden Bridge in downtown Manhattan. I have been going there since last May. It has done wonders for my health, body and mind.
